ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HELPING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EARN A DIPLOMA?

Do you have a particular subject area you would like to help our kids with?

We almost always have students who are working on English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. One-on-one tutoring is a great way to help our community, by helping our kids prepare for a successful life beyond high school. If you are interested, contact Ms. Burns at The Edge.

Do you own or manage a local business? Do you know someone who does?

If so, then you are in a unique position to contribute to our local community. Right now, we are currently looking for help in two main areas.

1) Inter-Cooperative Education (ICE)

Our program is looking for partners to ensure continued economic growth by developing the necessary skills in Ellettsville’s next generation. Students can earn school credits for completing our Career Development activities and linking them with a part-time job, where they display the skills targeted through our classroom portion. Partners who are willing to work with Edge students will get an employee who receives additional support and training outside of work hours. Partners will not only get the opportunity to influence the work skills of a future generations, but an employee with flexible hours, whose work will be helping them graduate.

2) Job Training and Skill Development

We are looking for opportunities for students to hear from members of the local business community, in the form of public/guest speaking, job shadowing, and assisting with mock interviews. We can (and do) go through some of these processes with our students, but it can be much more meaningful to hear it from someone other than their teacher. Though the message will have a lot of similarities, sometimes they may be more receptive to hearing it from a different voice.

If you are would like to find out more about such a partnership, please contact Ms. Burns at The Edge.
