Today is the final day of National School Counseling Week. We’ve enjoyed sharing with you this week about “dreaming big.” Whether it’s your dreams for yourself or for our school, dreams are the fuel that keeps us moving forward. Take a minute, and think about your dreams. Dreams don’t have to be about a career. Dreams can be about feelings or even helping someone else achieve their dreams. What’s one thing you can do today that moves you one step closer to a dream? Our dream for everyone one of you is that you feel successful here at our school and that you learn all the skills you need to reach your goals in life. Mrs. Schlemmer & Mrs. Straw are here for you every day. Thank you for celebrating National School Counseling Week with us. Have a safe and fun weekend!
The Colts Wrestling team had a big win over North Clay with a final score of 75-42. Winning for the Colts included: Lucas Giron, Jayden Abel, Reid Lanman, Eli Silvernail, Dylan Foster, Darren Grubb, Tobey Connors, Lincoln Getts, and Kamin Strunk!
Edgewood played their rivals from across the river last night. The A team played first and was hands down the most exciting game of the year. Beating OV by 25 points in the last meeting, the boys were not quite at their best in the first half with a 3-2 defense thrown at them most of the game. A game that saw many lead changes throughout the night, was an absolute battle in the last 4-5 minutes of the game. Owen valley led for most of the 4th quarter but, the two biggest plays of the game happened within the last 40 seconds, Anderson Goerges stole a ball and had a lay-in that put the boys down by one, with less than 8 seconds left they put OV’s best player on the line he missed the free throw which led to an Edgewood rebound, with a couple of passes the ball found Anderson again for a last second 3 point heave, which he was fouled on. Down 1 Anderson hit the second and third free throws to seal the win! Final score Edgewood 37 OV 36. Scoring for Edgewood, Druckrey 19, Powell 10, Goerges 4, and Myers and Day both added 2.
The B team game was almost as crazy as the A game. After a 12-18 first quarter, in which 4 of the colts scored, they managed to win the second quarter 11-10, heading into the locker room with a 5-point deficit, the focus was on how to keep from turning the ball over on the 3-2 trap, winning the 3rd quarter by 1, the boys entered the fourth down by 4. Jesse Dixon had a huge 4th quarter dropping 11 in the 4th, with less than 15 seconds to go they had a baseline out-of-bounds play to attempt the winning bucket but OV’s defense got them a little out of position and although they had 2 attempts and almost a 3rd the ball was slightly fumbled and time ran out, leaving OV victorious 43-42. Dixon led the team with 19 in 2 quarters, Sturgis, Williamson, and Collins had 6 each, Drewes and White added 2 a piece, and Keller added a Free throw to complete the scoring for the colts.
