RESULTS

Cross Country: The cross country team competed at home last Wednesday against Owen Valley, Eastern Greene, and Tri-North. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams came away with wins. In the boys’ race, Josh Bryce finished 1st, Jesse Dixon 2nd, Zaden Norris 4th, Daylin Pairitz 9th, and Jack Ripley 10th. In the girls’ race Josephine Buckley was 2nd, Greta Vagedas 3rd, Maggie McCormack 7th, Avigail Grile 9th, and Katelyn Woodcock 10th. Season-best times were also run by Carter Adams, Dominick Walker, Jackson Warren, Nash Waterford, Dakota Weaver, Kaityln Goodall, Johanna Geboy, Adrianna Minnick, and Story Heckman. The Colts are running at home tonight against Cloverdale. Good luck!

Dollars for Scholars 5K – Sept. 9th: Mark your calendars! The Edgewood Dollars for Scholars (DFS) 5K Run/Walk is Saturday, September 9th at 8:30 AM, starting behind EIS. In May 2023, Edgewood DFS awarded a record-breaking $59,500 to Edgewood seniors. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so please consider coming out to run/walk and help raise scholarship money for Edgewood seniors!! Introducing Barley Mae Straw (Therapy Dog in Training): Mrs. Straw would like to introduce you to Edgewood Jr. High School’s very own therapy dog in training, Barley Mae Straw! Barley has been approved to work at EJHS through a pilot program where she will provide services to EJHS students. Before you are able to pet or play with Barley you’ll first need parent/guardian permission. An introduction letter including a permission slip will be sent to you & your parents and guardians.
Students, if interested please complete this online interest form and remember to bring in your signed permission slip. Extra permission slips can be picked up from Mrs. Buckles in the guidance office. Mrs. Straw must have this form signed AND returned before your first Barley interaction: No exceptions!

Kirkwood Yearbook Pictures: Don’t fret if you didn’t pre-order pictures, an online link will be emailed out for you to order pictures after proofs have been released. If you missed getting your picture taken, a make-up day will be scheduled soon.

Washington DC Trip: Our annual Washington DC trip planning is well underway! Open to all EJHS 7th and 8th grade students, the dates are 6/6/2024-6/10/2024.  There are still some seats left. Information is available through our personalized website for Trip 208611 and you can contact Ms. Jones at mjones@rbbschools.net.

Pumpkinfest: Save the date! Pumpkinfest is coming. This all-RBB event will take place on Saturday, October 21st. There will be games, food, and fun for the whole family. Details to come, we hope to see you there!

Pizza X POP Tabs: Love Pizza X? Love EJHS? Eat pizza from Pizza X and save the Proof-Of-Purchase (POP) tabs from the pizza boxes. Ask your friends and family to save them as well. Each Proof-Of-Purchase tab is worth 25 cents. Bring your tabs to the Main Office anytime throughout the year.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

6th Grade Girls’ Basketball Call Out: Please complete the Google interest form if you are interested in attending open gyms. Open gyms will start on Tuesday, 9/5 from 6-7:30 in the Multi-Purpose Room and Friday, 9/8 from 6-7:30 pm in the Main Gym.  Additional open gyms will be held the following Tuesdays and Fridays at the same time with the 22nd being the final one. More information will be sent out soon regarding tryout dates and times. You must have an athletic physical form on file and in FinalForms dated after April 1, 2023, in order to participate.

Softball: Attention EJHS Lady Colts grades 6-8!  Are you interested in trying out for the EJHS softball team in the spring?  Maybe just want to work on your skills?  This fall, Coach Schooling and Coach Ayer will be hosting conditioning for softball on Mondays after school, from 2:30-3:45 starting on September 11 through mid-November, weather permitting.  Girls who plan to come out need to have a physical on file, bring their own mitt, and be dressed to practice in the field! We look forward to getting back out there! See Coach Ayer in room 208 with any questions!

Baking Club:  Baking Club is Back! We will have a call-out meeting today. Meetings will take place in Mrs. Koontz’s room after school. Please have a ride home planned for 4:00 p.m. We will discuss future meeting dates, and new projects, and make ourselves a treat to enjoy! All students are welcome! If you are currently participating in a fall sport but would like to join later in the year OR if you cannot make it to the first meeting email Mrs. Koontz at ckoontz@rbbschools.net

Student Council: Student Council applications are due today by 10 a.m. Click on this link to complete step one of the application process. Remember that Student Council eligibility requires applicants to be in good academic and behavioral standing at EJHS. Students with a history of discipline referrals or grades below a B- in the previous year will not be considered for this organization. An email will be sent out notifying students who are approved for the EJHS Student Council by Friday, September 8. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Schlemmer or Mrs. Straw.

Coding Club: Calling all EJHS coders!  Do you have an interest in coding, A.I. and programming your own microelectronics? If so, check out the coding club for this fall!  Club sessions will run on Mondays after school in the EJHS Design Lab and are open to all EJHS students. See the online link or fliers to register!

ATHLETICS INFORMATION

Athletic Physicals: Student-athletes must have a completed physical before they may participate in tryouts or practice. A physical dated after April 1 is good for the entire next school year. We encourage parents to take advantage of the athletic physical night at Edgewood High School each spring in order to have their student-athlete prepared for any activity they choose to participate in for the following school year. FinalForms: All physicals are now completed through FinalForms. All athletes MUST be registered on FinalForms. Register HERE

Transportation Fees: Each student-athlete will be required to pay a $30 transportation fee for each sport in which he/she participates. Make payments on Eventlink HERE. Under contact information, please enter your athlete’s name and the sport you are paying for. for example “John Doe – Cross Country.” If you are paying for more than one athlete, please purchase them separately.

Event Tickets: We are cashless. We will have a card reader for bank and credit cards at the gate. Or you can pre-purchase tickets on Eventlink HERE.

  • Gate Ticket Prices: $5 per person or $15 per family
  • EJHS All Sports Season Passes: Each pass is good for admission to all home EJHS athletic events excluding County and WIC tournaments. Non-Transferable – Edgewood High School events are not covered by this pass.
    • 2023-2024 Family Pass (Immediate Family Only) – $100
    • 2023-2024 Adult Pass – $40
    • 2023-2024 Student/Child Pass – $20
    • 2023-2024 Senior Pass – $20

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
