Lady Mustangs defeat conference foe West Vigo

The Edgewood Lady Mustangs let a 9 run fourth inning guide them to a 13-1 victory over the Lady Vikings.  The big hit in the inning was Madi Bland’s grand slam.  All girls contributed as 8 different girls scored in the inning.  Ella Sproul had 4 hits and 4 RBIS on the night.  Having 2 hits each were: Alayna Flynn, Meleah Vest,  Madi Bland, and Ally Bland.  Jaylen Robinson was the winning pitcher only allowing 4 hits.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Marketing Fundamentals has been added as a new course for the 2023-24 school year!   In this class you will learn from marketing professionals, create advertisements for school events, explore social media marketing, and use your creativity to market food, sports, and more.  For more information, read the e-mail that Mrs. Winkler sent on April 21st.  Contact your counselor right away if you are interested in taking this class next year.

NHS: NHS seniors, if you want to order a stole or tassel, your money is due to either Mrs. Niehoff or Jonah Grimes by Friday, April 28.  Please make sure you complete the Google Form in Google Classroom.

Yearbooks: Students who have not picked up their 2023 El Corral yearbook should plan to pick it up Friday in the Commons during lunches. Each student must pick up their own yearbook. A limited number of books may be available for sale to students who did not pre-order.  The cost is $70, cash or check made payable to Edgewood High School.  Students who do not pick up their book by Friday will have to see Mr. Axsiom to get it.

Senior Trip

When: Friday, May 19th

Where: Holiday World

Cost: $35 – this covers the following: ticket into Holiday World, lunch, transportation, free drinks, free sunscreen

* We will start collecting money during homerooms 4/19/23 – 4/29/23

* Money can also be turned in to Mrs. Althoff as well

* If paying by check, please make payable to Edgewood High School

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up fast. We will celebrate our awesome Mustang Staff the week of May 8th. There are several ways for you to get involved. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
Monday-Tuesday: Bring in “Sweets for the Staff.” Deliver candy, cookies, treats, store-bought or homemade goodies. Send in to the office Monday (anytime) or Tuesday (before 8 AM).

Before Thursday, send in notes of appreciation for specific staff members.
Send in donations to help pay for a lunch for the entire staff. You can send in cash (in an envelope marked staff donation) or Venmo @katejohnsonco with a note for Staff Donations.

Sports Physicals: Edgewood High School will be hosting the 2023 Physical Night for anyone interested in playing sports for the 2023-2024 school year on Wednesday, May 10th from 6:00 – 8:30 in the EHS Gymnasium. The cost of the physical is $25 and can be purchased through GoFan.co to complete your registration. We are only taking payment via GoFan for this event so paying ahead of time is important.  Edgewood Physical Registration Link An email was sent out yesterday by Sam Jones with additional details. Mustang Mentor: Are you interested in being a Mustang Mentor and helping with the Mustang Kick-Off? Fall Festival Slogan Contest:
They are looking for a slogan for next year’s Fall Festival. One high school student’s submission will be chosen. The winner will also receive a $25 gift card. Email submissions to k9copev@aol.com. Due by April 28.

The Mustang Coffee Corral: Did you know that the coffee shop now takes cash?  Come to the Coffee Corral to purchase a reusable gift card!  You will pay a one time fee of $1 and can reload your card with cash as often as you like!

The coffee shop is now open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during home room AND lunch!  We have debuted a new drink, the caramel frappuccino, which has been a huge hit!  Come get yours today!

*There is a change to Student Driver Registration: All students who plan to drive to school must have a Parking Permit Registration on file with the school even if the car has been previously registered by another EHS student/sibling and already has a parking tag. Every car in the student parking lot must be registered to the current driver. Parents can find and fill out this form in Harmony Family Access with the registration paperwork. Any student who has already received a tag for a car registered to them after filling out the old Google Form, does not need to redo the form in Harmony.

  • Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
  • After you have filled out the form in Harmony, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Poetry Underground: Tuesday, May 2, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Come prepared to read your own or someone else’s poetry, or just enjoy listening to others. This free event for EHS students will take place in the Green Room underneath the auditorium stage–follow the signs when you enter the commons. Refreshments will be served.

Curious Wednesday: Don’t miss this week’s program–Mr. Axsiom is going to show us some basics about what is under the hood of your car. Bring your lunch into the library this Wednesday and enjoy learning something new!

ROSIE Readers: Come into the library by this Thursday to rate any of this year’s Rosie nominated books you’ve read. We will determine the EHS winning book, and that book title goes off to the state level as our vote for the Indiana Rosie competition.

Football players– 115 days until the opener, the weight room is open after school. Win today! One Team, One Dream!

Writing Club: The Writing Club will meet Fridays after school in the library until 3:15. All are welcome!

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT/SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Students who would like to request to see their counselor, should complete this Google form: Request to See Your Counselor. The form should only be completed using the student’s RBB email. Students may not request schedule changes based on teacher or period preference.
