Family Engagement Opportunities
At Edgewood we strive to develop and maintain family and community connections. Check out the opportunities bellow to see how you can connect with our schools. Email questions to email@example.com
Edgewood’s School Board recognizes that certain programs and activities can be enhanced through the use of volunteers who have particular knowledge or skills that will be helpful to members of the staff responsible for the conduct of those programs and activities. Before allowing an individual to serve as a volunteer, Edgewood Schools requires a criminal history check (per board policy 8120).
To ensure the ongoing safety of our students, Edgewood conducts its background checks through SafeVisitor Solutions, which allows the corporation to receive continued arrest alerts in real time beyond the date when the background check was completed. Each volunteer will be asked to pay a fee of $17.95 when completing the background check online. Occasionally there are additional fees for individuals who have lived in other states or for some Indiana searches typically due to researcher/court fees. These fees must also be paid before the background check will be processed. Volunteers will receive an email from support@safehiringsolutions.
Once submitted and approved, the SafeHire Background check is valid for 5 years.

Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
A key component to Edgewood’s success is the healthy relationship among staff and families within each building’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). These dedicated groups of volunteers create fun opportunities for the students’ families to engage with one another, assist school personnel with fundraising, supply needs, and classroom/event preparations, as well as devote themselves to making the students’ and staff’s yearly experience the best it can be. Each year may look a little different, but these teams are ESSENTIAL!
If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity (big or small), please reach out to your child’s respective PTO team. You can also stay informed of special events & activities by following them on their Facebook pages linked below.
Ready Schools Community Partnership
We are committed to ensuring that every student is equipped for success after high school. Through Ready Schools, we are empowering students to identify passions, embrace challenges with resilience, and confidently pursue their goals through relevant, authentic learning. Ready Schools is a framework of strategies to expand learning beyond the walls of our classrooms.
We understand our responsibility as educators to ensure economic prosperity for our region and we believe that by preparing our students to enter the world equipped for success, we are meeting that need for our local and regional employers. Innovative approaches to learning require systemic collaboration throughout our community, and ultimately benefit the community as a whole.
The following form outlines the many ways you may partner with Edgewood Schools through our Ready Schools initiatives. Please indicate any means of connecting and engaging with students that interests you or aligns with the goals of your organization. We look forward to working with you!
Parents in Education Team (P.I.E. Team)
As a school district, we are always working to improve the programs and services we provide to our students, faculty, and families. However, schools cannot embark upon the journey of continuous school improvement alone. More can be accomplished and realized if schools, families, and communities work together to promote student success. In order to facilitate this kind of partnership, the Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation is a district member of the National Network of Partnership Schools.
The National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS), established at Johns Hopkins University in 1996, invites schools, districts, states, and organizations to join together and use research-based approaches to organize and sustain excellent programs of family and community involvement that will increase student success in school. In an effort to facilitate excellent programs of family and community involvement throughout Edgewood Schools, each of the five schools supports a Partners in Education Team (P.I.E. Team) which uses the School Improvement Goals coupled with the 6 types of involvement as defined by the NNPS to create an annual plan for the school. These P.I.E. Teams consist of school personnel, community members, and parents.
Parent and community partnership fuels our students’ success! If you are a parent or community member interested in joining a particular school’s P.I.E. Team, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
