GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Student Drivers: All students who plan to drive to school must have a completed Parking Permit
- Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
- After you have filled out the form, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.
Chromebooks: Any students who have not received a chromebook or charger need to see Mrs. Johnson in the office ASAP.
Chromebook Protection: Parents/Guardians, use this link to sign up for the chromebook protection plan. It is HIGHLY recommended. The deadline is September 30.
2021-2022 Yearbooks: Students who ordered last year’s yearbook and have not yet pick it up should check with Mr. Axsiom in room A116. Yearbooks not picked up by September 1st may be made available to other buyers.
Kirkwood Yearbook Pictures: August 23. Seniors still needing Senior Yearbook Photos can have them taken at this time. Seniors needing retakes will have those taken on retake day.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
TED Talk: It’s time for TED Talks to begin! This Thursday, August 25, we will watch popular YA author, John Green, as he explains his journey in finding an exciting community of learning in online videos when he was struggling to learn in the traditional school setting. Bring your lunch into the library this Thursday and enjoy a casual conversation about Green’s TED Talk.
Book Club: All are invited to join the Book Club this month. Come to the library to check out this month’s pick: With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo. This realistic fiction book tells of Emoni Santiago, a teen mom who has to balance her school life with caring for her daughter and her abuela. Her dream is to become a chef, and she adds a little something magical to everything she cooks. We will meet to discuss the book on Friday, September 16.
Writing Club: The Writing Club will meet Mondays (not Wednesdays, as first announced) after school in the library until 3:15. All are welcome!
Gymnastics: Any girl interested in being on the school gymnastics team this year needs to sign up on the list in the athletic office.
Class Clash: It’s that time again! This year’s Homecoming game is on September 23rd. Class Clash will take place on Wednesday, September 21st. This traditional Edgewood event gives each class an opportunity to compete with each other in a variety of fun games and challenges. Class Clash t-shirts will be sold August 17-24 in the commons during lunch. $15
Boys Basketball: Any boy interested in playing basketball this year needs to complete the google form that was sent to their email by Coach Wadsworth. For anyone not in a fall sport, basketball workouts will begin after school on Monday, August 29th. Monday’s workout will begin at 2:45 and last until 4:30. Players will be able to change in the boys’ basketball locker room, which is located in the back hallway by the weight room. Players need to bring a shirt, shorts, and basketball shoes. Parents can pick up players at Door 4.
Anyone with questions needs to stop by E126 to see Coach Wadsworth, the boys’ varsity basketball coach.
Musical Auditions: Auditions for the musical production, “Mama Mia!” will take place in the EHS Auditorium on the following days and times:
- Monday, August 22 (2:40-4:40) & (6:00-8:00)
- Tuesday, August 23 (6:30-8:30)
- Wednesday, August 24 (2:40-4:40)
You only need to be present at one of the above times. If you are unable to attend one of these audition times due to illness or previously scheduled personal conflicts, please email Mrs. Carter. During the audition you will learn and then sing short portions of two different songs and then read a short portion of script. The performances for “Mama Mia!” will be November 11, 12, 18, & 19 Those interested in working behind the scenes as stage & set crew members for the show should email Mrs. Carter. COUNSELING DEPARTMENT/SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Students who would like to request to see their counselor, should complete this Google form: Request to See Your Counselor. The form should only be completed using the student’s RBB email. Students may not request schedule changes based on teacher or period preference.
