STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Curious Wednesday: This week’s Curious Wednesday topic is learning how Mrs. Taft makes “Quiet Books” for young children and elderly people to help them work on their fine motor skills. These books are made from felt and lots of neat art supplies, and we will have some available in person for you to see. Bring your lunch to the library this Wednesday, and enjoy learning about this fun and helpful hobby of Mrs. Taft’s.
Boys Volleyball: The IHSAA has officially made boys volleyball a spring sport starting this year. Edgewood will be fielding a team and will begin open workouts in October. If you are interested in playing, sign up at Mr. Jones’s desk in the front office.
Mental Health Club: New club opportunity starting at EHS this year. This club will meet to reduce stigma and spread awareness about mental health at our school. Our goal is to empower students and create a culture of peer support at Edgewood. Email Mrs. Howard and Ms. Vriesman with any questions or to join!
National Honor Society: NHS will meet on the first Thursday of each month in the auditorium from 7-7:15 AM.
Book Club: All are invited to join the Book Club this month. Come to the library to check out this month’s pick: With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo. This realistic fiction book tells of Emoni Santiago, a teen mom who has to balance her school life with caring for her daughter and her abuela. Her dream is to become a chef, and she adds a little something magical to everything she cooks. We will meet to discuss the book on Friday, September 16.
Writing Club: The Writing Club will meet Mondays (not Wednesdays, as first announced) after school in the library until 3:15. All are welcome!
Gymnastics: Any girl interested in being on the school gymnastics team this year needs to sign up on the list in the athletic office.

This opportunity is open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
The application forms and more detailed information are on the Rotary Club district website http://rotary6580.org/rylaphp.php. You may also see Mrs. Van Allen in the library for contact information for a Rotary Club member who can answer your questions.
