ALL CALL for LIBRARY BOOKS! If you have checked out a library book and are finished with it, please return it to the library this week or as soon as possible. Thank you!

*There is a change to Student Driver Registration: All students who plan to drive to school must have a Parking Permit Registration on file with the school even if the car has been previously registered by another EHS student/sibling and already has a parking tag. Every car in the student parking lot must be registered to the current driver. Parents can find and fill out this form in Harmony Family Access with the registration paperwork. Any student who has already received a tag for a car registered to them after filling out the old Google Form, does not need to redo the form in Harmony.

  • Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
  • After you have filled out the form in Harmony, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Track: Anyone planning on running track should stop by and see Mr. Walter.  Offseason conditioning will start when we return from fall break.

Haunted Libraries Trivia Question: Come into the library to answer the trivia question and get a treat. See Geophrey, the werewolf, for each day’s trivia question.

Flash Fiction Writing Contest: You have FOUR more days to enter the Flash Fiction Writing Contest! Information about the contest is on the table outside library doors, or you can see Mrs. Van Allen for details. Categories begin at 6 word stories, so anyone can enter! Entries are due no later than THIS Friday. Next week we will have a party at lunch for ALL who enter the contest. We have a treat and lots of prizes and raffle giveaways. Don’t miss it!!

Curious Wednesday: If you’ve ever watched the tv shows, Superstore or Ugly Betty, or if you’re a fan of How to Train Your Dragon movies, you may know America Ferrera, an American actress born to Honduran parents. This Wednesday we will watch her TEDTalk about her journey in Hollywood. Ferrera encourages us to “stop resisting” who we are and “start existing” as our true selves. Bring your lunch into the library Wednesday.

Softball: Outdoor workouts have started every Tuesday after school until 4:30 at the field.

Academic Super Bowl: If you think it would be fun to be a part of a team where you learn about music, art, literature, history, science, or math, then Academic Super Bowl is for you! We’re currently recruiting team members – all are welcome. If interested, contact Mrs. Van Allen in the library or one of the following teachers: Mr. Walter (math),  Mrs. Mathias (English), Mr. Axsiom (fine arts), Mrs. Boivert-Storey (science), and Mr. Winkler (social studies). Sign up soon to be involved in an easy fundraiser to help cover your activity fee. This year’s theme is “The Age of Exploration: 1400-1650.”

Baseball: Anyone wanting to play baseball and NOT on the Remind need to see Mr. Jones in the front office as soon as possible. Baseball workouts will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:15 at the baseball field.

Book Club: Interested in reading a YA horror/thriller and discussing it with other readers? All EHS students are welcome to this month’s Book Club selection, Rules for Vanishing, by Kate Alice Marshall. This book tells a story in a faux-documentary style. It’s a scary campfire story of a missing girl, a vengeful ghost, and the girl who is determined to find her sister–at all costs. Come by the library to check out a copy of the book.

Boys Volleyball: The IHSAA has officially made boys volleyball a spring sport starting this year. Edgewood will be fielding a team and will begin open workouts in October. If you are interested in playing, sign up at Mr. Jones’s desk in the front office.

National Honor Society: NHS will meet on the first Thursday of each month in the auditorium from 7-7:15 AM.

Writing Club: The Writing Club will meet Mondays after school in the library until 3:15. All are welcome!

Gymnastics: Any girl interested in being on the school gymnastics team this year needs to sign up on the list in the athletic office.
