JAG Competition: In two categories previously judged, we received 3rd place in the Chapter Brochure (Tabby Rogers & Haley Summerlot). We received 3rd place in the Chapter Commercial (5th-period students). Jordan Martindale received 2nd place in Employability Skills (resume, cover letter & interview). Tanner Spencer received 2nd place in Public Speaking. Chris Oberman received 1st place in Financial Literacy (he defended his personal budget created for the first year after graduation). Chris will be going on to compete at the state level in March!
Swimming Sectional Results
The girls swam amazingly well last night. Lots of personal bests (12 of 23) in individual events. The 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relays qualified for the championship finals and the 200 Freestyle relay qualified for the consolation finals on Saturday. Ellie Lewis qualified for the championship finals in the 100 Breaststroke and the consolation finals in the 200 IM. Jaelyn Woodcock was 1st alternate in the 100 Butterfly. Jenna Crosley was 2nd alternate in the 100 Backstroke. Ellie Vagedes qualified for the championship finals in both the 100 Butterfly AND the 100 Backstroke. She also broke the school record in BOTH of those events last night. The girls swim on Saturday at Columbus North in the Sectional Finals meet. Additionally, on Saturday, Avery Dunham will compete in Diving for the Mustangs.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Candy Grams: Next week during lunch, JAG students will be selling personalized Candy Grams that will be delivered during homeroom on Valentine’s Day. Choice of Ring Pop or Fun Dip w/message $1; gift bag of assorted candy w/message $3. Send to any student or staff member in the building. Hoosier Hills students will receive theirs during 5th period.
Speech Contest: All EHS students are invited to participate in a Bloomington Rotary Club speech contest. The contest will be held on Saturday, February 11. The speech length is 5 minutes, and there is a cash award for the county winner. Last year, EHS had the winner of the contest. Please see Mrs. Van Allen in the library soon for more details if you’re interested.
International Student Host Families Needed: Would you like to HOST an international student in your home? We’re looking for host families for some students arriving in August 2023. CIEE Host Families come in all shapes and sizes! And many host families find they develop a relationship that lasts a lifetime! Please click on the attachments here and here to find out more information and/or ask Mrs. Clay in Room E 149.
Blood Drive: The Blood Drive will be on February 6th from 8:00 AM -1:00 PM in the back gym. Sign-ups for the blood drive will be during lunches on Mondays, Tuesday, and Fridays in all three lunches from January 23rd to February 3rd. In order to donate blood you must be at least 16 and have a parent/guardian fill out a permission form that you will be given when you sign up for your donation. If you are over 18 you do not need to fill out a permission form! Please let Miss Brookman (kbrookman@rbbschools.net) know if you have any questions.
Coffee Corral: The coffee shop will be open every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday! We will be adding new drinks soon, so make sure to stop by and get your morning beverage from the Mustang Coffee Corral!

Weights Club: Next Tuesday during club time, the new Weights Program Kick-Start Club will meet in the weights room?
Dungeons & Dragons Knock-Off – A Role Play Writing Club Event: Come join this student-led hour of creating a story with heroes, villains, and many other characters, all based in an outer space setting. All EHS students are welcome to attend this fun event in the library on Friday, February 3, after school from 2:30-3:30.
Book Club Selection: Five Total Strangers, by Natalie D. Richards, is a thriller about five strangers traveling together in a blizzard, one of them with a sinister plot to make the ride end in disaster. Books are available now to check out in the library.
Jam Session: Did you attend the Holiday Music Fest in the library in December and enjoy the live music at lunch? We’re doing the same type of event on Wednesday, February 8. We’d love to have musicians and singers again to perform background music while students eat lunch. You do not need to be a member of choir or band to participate. All are welcome! See Mrs. Van Allen ASAP to sign up to perform.
Off-season high school girl’s soccer workouts start this week from 3-4:30 Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. We will do weights, conditioning, footwork, and will play if the gym is open. Meet by the high school weight room.
Workouts are open to any high school girls and current 7th and 8th grade girls who are interested in playing soccer. Fill out the Google form if you are interested:
Softball: Any girls planning on playing on the school softball team this spring needs to see Mr. Hammett at lunch or send him an email so he can get you on the email list.
The lacrosse team will have winter conditioning practices on Tuesday and Wednesdays, beginning at 6pm in the weight room. Nothing is needed, just show up! Contact Coach Mary (mellis@rbbschools.net) for more info.
National Honor Society: NHS will meet on the first Thursday of each month in the auditorium from 7-7:15 AM.
Writing Club: The Writing Club will meet Fridays after school in the library until 3:15. All are welcome!
Gymnastics: Any girl interested in being on the school gymnastics team this year needs to sign up on the list in the athletic office.
