GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
‘Tis the Season: Catch the annual holiday production this Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 2. Tickets available at the door or on sale in the commons tonight between 6-7 pm.
French Club: The next French Club meeting will be Monday, December 13 from 2:30-3:00. We will be making decorations for the foreign language tree decorating competition. If you would like to attend and haven’t officially signed up, please bring in the $3 annual dues.
TED Talk: In this week’s TED Talk Thursday, ad executive Jose Miguel Sokoloff explains how his firm used marketing techniques to convince guerilla fighters in Columbia to put down their weapons and return home to their families. Come to the media center to eat your lunch and watch this TED Talk.
Schedule Change: If you need to request a schedule change for second semester, you must turn in a completed schedule change form, with parent signature, by Tuesday, December 14. Forms are available in the Guidance Office. Completed forms should be turned in to Mrs. Waterford, guidance secretary.
IMPORTANT regarding schedule changes:
- Schedule changes will not be made in order to have a different teacher.
- Change requests will not necessarily be approved. It depends on what you ask to drop and what to add.
- If you are asking to drop a year-long class and are doing ok in the class, you may be expected to finish the class.
Yearbook: Don’t forget to order your yearbook by the end of the first semester! Yearbooks are currently $55, but prices will increase to $65 after Friday, December 17th. Go to JostensYearbooks.com to order!
Seniors interested in becoming a teacher: Be sure to see the email from Mr. Faust regarding the $30,000 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. The email was sent last month and again December 2.
Yearbook retakes: Any students who still need a retake of their yearbook photo can go to the Kirkwood Photo Lab Studio on Tuesday, December 14th, from 3 to 4:45 p.m. This will be the final retake opportunity.
Seniors: If you did not turn in your cap and gown order form last week, please visit https://www.herffjones.
Sophomores: Scheduling appointments are posted across from the cafeteria and outside of the back entrance to the office. Be sure to check for your appointment date/time so that you will be prepared.
Tutoring: Edgewood’s Tutoring Site, sponsored by NHS, offers tutoring in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Computer Science, and Choir. Students will be able to simply submit their questions on a Google Form and NHS tutors will respond. The forms, along with more information, can be found at this link.
MCPL Math Homework Help For Teens: The Monroe County Public Library Downtown Branch offers free homework help on Mondays from 7-8:30 PM. See the flyer for more details.
Attention students returning from quarantine. Remember that you will need to eat lunch in the gym for four days upon returning to school. You MUST check in with Ms. Dirk in the gym each day at lunch. Students who do not will be assigned detention.

Student Drivers: All students who plan to drive to school must have a completed Parking Permit
- Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
- After you have filled out the form, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Academic Bowl: “Canada: Our Neighbor to the North” An interesting topic, eh? If you think it would be fun to be a part of a team where you learn about music, art, stories, poetry, history, science, and math, then Academic Super Bowl is for you. We’re currently recruiting team members–all are welcome. If interested, contact Mrs. Van Allen in the library or one of the following teachers: Mr. Walter, Mrs. Mathias, Mr. Axsiom, Mrs. Boivert-Storey, and Mr. Dodrill. Team meetings will begin after holiday break.

Baseball: The baseball team will be having a parent/player meeting for all boys interested in playing baseball this Spring. We will be handing out tickets for our chili supper fundraiser in February. It is important that at least one representative be present. The meeting will take place in the cafeteria on Tuesday, December 14 at 6 p.m. This will be a short meeting. The Lacrosse Team will be on the turf for winter practices, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Plan to dress warm and be outside until it drops below freezing temperatures! All you need to do is show up!
Track and Field workouts have begun. Meet in the commons. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-4:00 pm. Please be prepared for indoor or outside practice. Any questions, reach out to Coach Doering.
Girls Lacrosse: If you’re interested in trying girls lacrosse out, please contact Coach Leslie (Btownpridehslax@gmail.com). No experience is needed. Practice is Mondays at 4-5:30 at North on the turf and Tuesdays at 4:30-5:30 on the B-line starting at the pavilion in the Switchyard Park!
