GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

French Club: There will be a French Club meeting this Friday, January 28 at 2:30pm in the French room.  The activity will last from 2:30 to 3:00pm.

LAX: Parent meeting this Wednesday 1/26 7:30-8:30 PM in cafeteria.

Speech Contest: The Bloomington Rotary Club is hosting a speech contest for high school students on February 26. The topic has to do with the Pandemic and how it applies to the Rotary Club’s Four-Way Test ethical guide. There is a $200 prize for the Bloomington winner and a chance to advance for a higher award. See the fliers outside your English classroom for more information, or see Mrs. Van Allen in the media center.

Juniors: Any juniors interested in helping with prom are welcome to join Junior Advisory! Meetings are held on Tuesday afternoons in the commons. Please email Mrs. Taft or Mrs. Niehoff with any questions.

Tutoring: Edgewood’s Tutoring Site, sponsored by NHS, offers tutoring in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Computer Science, and Choir. Students will be able to simply submit their questions on a Google Form and NHS tutors will respond. The forms, along with more information, can be found at this link.

MCPL Math Homework Help For Teens: The Monroe County Public Library Downtown Branch offers free homework help on Mondays from 7-8:30 PM. See the flyer for more details.

Attention students returning from quarantine. Remember that you will need to eat lunch in the gym for four days upon returning to school. You MUST check in with Ms. Dirk in the gym each day at lunch. Students who do not will be assigned detention.

Student Drivers: All students who plan to drive to school must have a completed Parking Permit Registration on file with the school even if the car has been previously registered by another EHS student/sibling and already has a parking tag. Every car in the student parking lot must be registered to the current driver.

  • Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
  • After you have filled out the form, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Book Club: All are invited to join this month’s Book Club! On February 11, we will meet to discuss Kate Alice Marshall’s isolation thriller, I Am Still Alive. Jess finds herself alone in the Canadian wilderness, and she has to get back to civilization to avenge the murder of her father. Think Hatchet, with a murder mystery thrown in! We have copies of the book available for checkout in the library, thanks to the generosity of the Wahl Family Charitable Trust and the RBBSC Foundation. Come get a copy today.

Softball: Softball practice has begun and will continue every Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 8.  Meet in the balcony of the gym.  See Coach Hammett if you have any questions.

Girls Tennis: If you are interested in joining the Girls Tennis Team, please fill out this form ( https://forms.gle/G1SXsreSdF4YErS28 ). We will be having conditioning on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4 starting on January 25th! For any questions, you can talk to Miss Brookman in room E108 or through email at kbrookman@rbbschools.net.

Track and field conditioning will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. 2:45-4:15pm. Please be prepared for indoor or outdoor practices.

Academic Bowl: “Canada: Our Neighbor to the North” An interesting topic, eh? If you think it would be fun to be a part of a team where you learn about music, art, stories, poetry, history, science, and math, then Academic Super Bowl is for you. We’re currently recruiting team members–all are welcome. If interested, contact Mrs. Van Allen in the library or one of the following teachers: Mr. Walter,  Mrs. Mathias, Mr. Axsiom, Mrs. Boivert-Storey, and Mr. Dodrill.

The Lacrosse Team will be indoors for winter practices, Tuesday in the Aux Gym and Wednesday in the Weight Room, from 7:30-8:30pm. Winter Youth Leadership Skills Summit Jan. 29
Skill Up with Monroe County Youth Council at this twice-a-year leadership skills summit.* You have influence! Your leadership matters.
