Seniors:  If you are interested in becoming a teacher and have either a 3.5 GPA, an 1130 SAT score, or an ACT score of at least 26, you qualify to apply for the  $30,000 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship.  See Monday’s email from Mr. Faust for information about applying for this scholarship.

Attention Juniors and Seniors – You are invited to apply to the *NEW* E-LOTS program. E-LOTS stands for the Edgewood Leadership Opportunities Through Service program.

The 5th graders at EIS will head to Bradfords Woods to camp for three days and two nights in May, and would love to see you join them there!  As an E-LOTS Junior or Senior, you will lead, oversee, or participate in all of the Cabin and Trail Groups activities. From the night hikes to the weather reports, participating in this program will be unforgettable for you, and each of our 5th graders.

Applications are available starting TODAY. If interested, come pick up an application packet from Mrs. Stevens’ desk in the front office.

You can contact Mrs. Miller with any questions. Applications are due back by Friday, Nov. 18.

Mrs. Winkler’s sophomore scheduling appointments have been posted outside the entrance to the Counseling Office and across from the cafeteria.  Appointments have begun.

Yearbook Photos: Please use this link to access your Kirkwood yearbook photos. You can order them here as well.

*There is a change to Student Driver Registration: All students who plan to drive to school must have a Parking Permit Registration on file with the school even if the car has been previously registered by another EHS student/sibling and already has a parking tag. Every car in the student parking lot must be registered to the current driver. Parents can find and fill out this form in Harmony Family Access with the registration paperwork. Any student who has already received a tag for a car registered to them after filling out the old Google Form, does not need to redo the form in Harmony.

  • Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
  • After you have filled out the form in Harmony, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Media Center: Curious Wednesday programs are back! Next Wednesday, November 16, two of our school’s psychologists will lead an informal discussion about the career school psychologist. If you want to explore a career in which you can make a difference in the lives of young people, come hear Dr. Heather Rimstidt and I.U. practicum student, Malena Nygaard, as they describe this fulfilling career. Bring your lunch to the media center.

Book Club: All EHS students are welcome to read this month’s Book Club selection, Americanized: Rebel Without a Green Card, a nonfiction humorous memoir by author, Sara Saedi. This book is about a U.S. teenager who lives the typical teen life, but then finds out a family secret and lives in fear of deportation. Come by the media center to check out the book for our next Book Club meeting on November 28th.

The lacrosse team will have winter conditioning practices on Tuesday and Wednesdays, beginning at 6pm in the weight room.  Nothing is needed, just show up! Contact Coach Mary (mellis@rbbschools.net) for more info.

Track: Anyone planning on running track should stop by and see Mr. Walter.  Offseason conditioning will start when we return from fall break.

Softball: Outdoor workouts have started every Tuesday after school until 4:30 at the field.

Academic Super Bowl: If you think it would be fun to be a part of a team where you learn about music, art, literature, history, science, or math, then Academic Super Bowl is for you! We’re currently recruiting team members – all are welcome. If interested, contact Mrs. Van Allen in the library or one of the following teachers: Mr. Walter (math),  Mrs. Mathias (English), Mr. Axsiom (fine arts), Mrs. Boivert-Storey (science), and Mr. Winkler (social studies). Sign up soon to be involved in an easy fundraiser to help cover your activity fee. This year’s theme is “The Age of Exploration: 1400-1650.”

Baseball: Baseball workouts are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30-8:30. Please go through entrance 4 and contact Coach Jones to be added to the Remind.
