STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Curious Wednesday (Nov. 30): A TEDTalk by Native American scholar and artist, Lila June, telling about “Native American food and land management techniques” (TEDTalk.com). If you’re interested in agriculture, land management, and hope for our future ecological situation, you’ll find her talk uplifting with research-proven ways to manage our earth.
Holiday Music Fest: Thursday, December 8, during all three lunches: Holiday Music Fest! Bring your lunch and friends into the media center and hear LIVE holiday music while you eat. Limited seating if necessary.
Musicians Wanted: NOW looking for musicians and/or singers to play LIVE music for the media center’s Holiday Music Fest! Please ask Mrs. Van Allen about singing and/or playing at the December 8 lunch time in the library. This is very informal, so don’t feel like you have to be a superstar! Singers, musicians, solo or group–anything is welcome. Deadline to sign up is this Monday, December 5.
Softball: Any girls planning on playing on the school softball team this spring needs to see Mr. Hammett at lunch or send him an email so he can get you on the email list.
Book Club: All EHS students are welcome to read this month’s Book Club selection, Americanized: Rebel Without a Green Card, a nonfiction humorous memoir by author, Sara Saedi. This book is about a U.S. teenager who lives the typical teen life, but then finds out a family secret and lives in fear of deportation. Come by the media center to check out the book for our next Book Club meeting on November 28th.
The lacrosse team will have winter conditioning practices on Tuesday and Wednesdays, beginning at 6pm in the weight room. Nothing is needed, just show up! Contact Coach Mary (mellis@rbbschools.net) for more info.
Academic Super Bowl: If you think it would be fun to be a part of a team where you learn about music, art, literature, history, science, or math, then Academic Super Bowl is for you! We’re currently recruiting team members – all are welcome. If interested, contact Mrs. Van Allen in the library or one of the following teachers: Mr. Walter (math), Mrs. Mathias (English), Mr. Axsiom (fine arts), Mrs. Boivert-Storey (science), and Mr. Winkler (social studies). Sign up soon to be involved in an easy fundraiser to help cover your activity fee. This year’s theme is “The Age of Exploration: 1400-1650.”
National Honor Society: NHS will meet on the first Thursday of each month in the auditorium from 7-7:15 AM.
Writing Club: The Writing Club will meet Mondays after school in the library until 3:15. All are welcome!
