RETAKES will take place this Wednesday, October 18, during lunches.

Seniors, please check yourselves in your original pictures.  Do you meet the requirements sent to you earlier in the year? Do you have words, logos, or other large, graphic elements on your clothing? Are you wearing spaghetti straps or some other top that is less than sleeveless? If the answer to either of these questions is “yes,” please get a retake on Wednesday, and please show up for your photo in clothing that meets the requirements.  Thank you!

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

There will be no resource this Wednesday.  Students will stay in homeroom Wednesday with freshmen, sophomores, and juniors completing some pre-PSAT work for the October 24 PSAT.  For seniors, Wednesday homeroom will be a study period.

Reminder to seniors:  Your PSAT Day form is due TODAY.  If you plan to go on one of the group college visits (to IU, Ivy Tech, Indiana State, or Vincennes), it is very important that you turn in your form now!

If you would like to help plan or perform in this year’s Veterans Day program, there will be a short meeting after school Wednesday in the commons. Anyone is welcome to attend. Please see Ms. Taft with any questions.

News from the EHS Library:

Starting today at lunch, drop by the library to answer the trivia question and get a treat. Find Alice, the alpaca, in her special costume, for each day’s trivia question.

All entries for the Flash Fiction Writing Contest must be turned in by this Friday, at 2:30. Information is outside the library doors. Categories begin with only 6-word stories, so anyone can enter! There will be a party next week for all who enter. Don’t miss it!

This week’s Curious Wednesday will be the return of video games in the library at lunch. There will be two old-school gaming systems set up, and anyone may play.

This year’s first Jam Session, will be next Wednesday, October 25, during all three lunches. Do you play piano, guitar, ukelele, or any other instrument? Do you sing acapella? Sign up in the library to display your talent. All are welcome to eat your lunch as you enjoy the live music.

The new Book Club selection is out! Come in and check out Somewhere Between Bitter and Sweet, a realistic fiction work about Pene, an 18-year-old who dreams of opening her own bakery after high school. Challenges get in her way and threaten to ruin her family and her newfound romance. Come in to borrow a copy soon!

EHS students are invited to attend the upSTRTER Career Fair on Thursday 10/19, a career-focused event at The Mill in Bloomington.

If you are a student in a business class, a 12th-grade English class, or someone who is interested in opening their own business after high school, this opportunity is for you!

UpSTRTER, the STudent Resource fair for Trades & Entrepreneurship Recruitment, is a partnership between the Chamber and The Mill and teaches high school students about local career opportunities available and how to make the most of those opportunities, while giving them a chance to talk face-to-face with employers. The goal of the fair is for students to learn how to get started in rewarding careers and also how to start their own business.

High school students from any grade are welcome! Local businesses and employers will have booths set up at the event to interact and engage with students. Some employers may be hiring, and welcoming students to fill out job applications. All booths will be available to talk with students about the career opportunities within their industry and offer tips on finding a career or starting a business. Along with businesses in the trades industries, Ivy Tech will also present materials on their Free trainings through the Workforce Readiness Grant as well as their Entrepreneurship program. The Mill will give tours and talk about the entrepreneurial community in this area.

To sign up for this field trip opportunity here’s what you need to do:

1) Complete the Google Form linked to the EHS announcements page: https://forms.gle/Yz1oyCFkfNinVdzZA

2) Look for additional information through the daily announcements and your school email about how to prepare for the Career Fair

Mustangs, please help us make your El Corral yearbook the best that it can be.  Do you have pictures of Edgewood students doing amazing things? Do you know of classroom lessons, student activities, or just interesting Mustang happenings that we should feature in the yearbook? Do you know of a student or teacher with a special story we should cover? You can send your pictures or tips to Mr. Axsiom, the El Corral adviser, at raxsiom@rbbschools.net.

The boy’s lacrosse team has begun fall practices. They take place every Wednesday from 6:30-8pm on the soccer fields. New players are welcome and encouraged – need nothing but a pair of athletic shoes! Contact Coach Mary for more information at mellis@rbbschools.net.

Softball workouts will be on Thursdays after school, as long as the weather permits, on the field.  See Coach Hammett(room 133) if you have questions.
