*Let’s GET HYPED for our volleyball team TONIGHT in their quest to extend their phenomenal 13 game win streak as they take on county rival Bloomington North.

Students will be admitted for FREE!!  You read that right, students are FREE!!!

TAILGATE and FREE PIZZA! Coach Doering will host pizza and a tailgate before the game on the West side of the school (near the Science wing)  Look for the tent!! Be sure to fill out this form before 1pm to sign up for the pizza and tailgate: https://forms.gle/MZEGMJVULPz9vW2X9

We have many events going on at the school Thursday night so please help us out by parking in the back lot where the buses pick up and drop off.

Come eat some food, play some games, chill with your friends, then we will move inside to yell loudly in support of our girls and this amazing team!

(Masks are required inside.) The tailgate will start around 6:00pm.

Please feel free to bring your own cornhole boards or other backyard games you think others would enjoy!

*This past Saturday, in front of Memorial Stadium, Music Warehouse sang the national anthem for the “Hoosiers Outrun Cancer” event.  They did an outstanding job!*

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

October 13: On PSAT day, which is the Wednesday after break, all sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT.  Freshmen and seniors will have classes as usual.  Due to Covid, seniors will not be doing job shadowing, college visits, etc., as seniors have done in the past on PSAT day.

Homecoming week is this week! Since we are not doing Class Clash this year, we have a few other competitions we will be doing! One of these will be a coin competition. There will be four buckets in the library, one for each grade. Silver coins are +1 and copper coins are -1. Use the copper coins to sabotage other grades. We will also be doing a food drive. The buckets for this will be outside of the library! We will count each of the nonperishable items as 1 point. The winner of homecoming week will be announced on Friday 10/1.

Dress-up Days for Homecoming: Dressing up will help your class receive points! All outfits must follow dress code with the exception of wearing hats on Tuesday.

Thursday: CLASH!!!
Friday: School spirit (Homecoming shirts)

If you paid for a homecoming shirt and have not picked it up, you may do so today in Miss Brookman’s room.

Tutoring: This week marks the launch of Edgewood’s Tutoring Site. Sponsored by NHS, this site will offer tutoring in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Computer Science, and Choir. Students will be able to simply submit their questions on a Google Form and NHS tutors will respond. The forms, along with more information, can be found at this link.

Attention students returning from quarantine. Remember that you will need to eat lunch in the gym for four days upon returning to school. You MUST check in with Ms. Dirk in the gym each day at lunch. Students who do not will be assigned detention.

Vaccine Clinics: There will be a Pfizer COVID-19 and Flu vaccine clinic offered to students at EHS during the school day on Thursday, October 14th. Parents who wish to have their student vaccinated at school need to read and complete the consent and health questionnaire found HERE. The Flu vaccine form can be found HERE Students can pick up the paperwork from our Health Office as well. The deadline for all paperwork to be turned in to the office is Friday, October 1st.

Student Drivers: All students who plan to drive to school must have a completed Parking Permit Registration on file with the school even if the car has been previously registered by another EHS student/sibling and already has a parking tag. Every car in the student parking lot must be registered to the current driver.

  • Students who have registered as drivers in a previous year and have not changed vehicles are not required to register again.
  • After you have filled out the form, bring your driver’s license and $1 cash to Mrs. Johnson in the school office ASAP to receive your sticker.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

TED Talks are back! This year we will have them on Thursdays during the longer lunch periods. This week’s TED Talk is about body language and how being conscious about your own body language can make you feel more confident in your interactions with others. Please sign up in advance outside the media center.

Spanish Club: Students who are in Spanish and would like to join Spanish Club – please fill out the Google form by Friday, October 1.  Gracias!

Best Friends Club: Members who have not paid their dues yet, please have those turned in no later than this Friday morning.

The Best Friends Club will be having its first club activity this Friday evening from 6-7 pm… check your email for information from Mr. Carmichael.

Rugby: There will be a call out meeting for the Bloomington High School Rugby Team on Monday, October 18 and Thursday, October 21 5:30 PM at 840  W 17th St #7 (Lower Lot Behind Plaza) All athletes and parents welcome. Bowling team CALLOUT meeting. No experience necessary! Meeting will take place tonight at 5:30 at Classic Lanes in Bloomington (1421 N Willis Drive).  We will discuss team procedures, fundraising, practices, and meet schedules/times.
