GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

No Science Academic Super Bowl Club after school today.

Pumpkinfest Committee Application time! The Pumpkinfest Committee is looking for new members. Applications are open to any 6th or 7th grader interested. Pumpkinfest is a big commitment and a lot of work which will require you to be in Mrs. Jones’ homeroom next year.  Once the committee has reviewed applications, we will be calling applicants in for an interview.  Bring your best! The EJHS EdgeShop has its limited-time holiday items out now, including ornaments, jewelry, and winter gear! All purchases go right back to supporting the Design Lab. Head to Edgeshop.square.site, scan the code on the fliers, or stop by the Design Lab in person to shop the sale!

Staff and students, we’ve decided to go big before we go home! That’s right, the Student Council is pleased to present 13 Junior High Jolly Days! While everyone has the opportunity to participate by dressing up all 13 days, please know that these are optional and just for fun. Dress up for none, just your favorites, or all 13!  See this calendar for each day’s description.

Today’s Junior High Jolly Day is: You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch. Wear Green today to help his heart grow 3 sizes too big.

Tomorrow’s Junior High Jolly Day is: Hide your mistletoes by wearing holiday socks.

Friday’s Junior High Jolly Day is: Top the Tree Day! Winter Hat, Headband, or Antlers.

Do you like to sing, act, or dance? Auditions for the Theater Club’s musical start today through Thursday after school until 4:00 pm. Students who are interested in being in the video game-themed musical called “Press Start” can sign up for auditions using the following form. Even students who have never been to Theater club can audition. Do you think your athletic skills are better than Coach Sparks’? Or that you are as smart as Mrs Karaffa? Do you have hidden musical or fun talents?
You will have a chance to prove your skills at the Student vs Teacher Game Show the day before Winter Break! If you are interested in besting your teachers and showing off your musical, athletic, artistic, or academic skills – please fill out the Google form and you will get more information.

Major Saver – Small Card, BIG Results

Safe Sitter Class: Safe Sitter is designed to prepare students in grades 6 – 8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch and water bottle.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Listen up all you tough guys, gals, and silly 6th graders. This Friday at 5:30 pm, EJHS is hosting its second semi-annual powerlifting meet. This is a bench and deadlift meet and your chance to prove how strong you really are. Awards will be given based on grade and weight. Last year’s Eli Lirot finished as the top per-pound lifter. Will he reclaim his title or will Darren Grubb surpass him? Even more importantly, Mr. Sparks won the teacher’s division. Will he maintain his title?

Swimming and Diving: Anyone interested in Swimming or Diving this season should join the Google Classroom and fill out the sign-up form. Season will start on Jan 17th and you can contact Mrs Musselwhite or Mr Straw with any questions. (code: xvuagcm)

Fishing Club Call Out: Mark your calendars for Edgewood’s New School Fishing Club. Any 8th grader interested in participating should attend the call-out meeting on December 13th at 2:45 in the High School cafeteria. They will discuss when tournaments will be held and each boat must have one adult as boat captain and 2 students per team. Now that fall sports and some fun events have passed, our EJHS yearbook editors are requesting your help. Please submit action photos of sports, clubs, field trips, the Glow Dance, or PumpkinFest for possible use in the 2024 yearbook by uploading jpg images to Jostens from a phone or a computer. Athletic Physicals: Student-athletes must have a completed physical before they may participate in tryouts or practice. A physical dated after April 1 is good for the entire school year. We encourage parents to take advantage of the athletic physical night at Edgewood High School each spring in order to have their student-athletes prepared for any activity they choose to participate in for the following school year. FinalForms: All physicals are now completed through FinalForms. All athletes MUST be registered on FinalForms. Register HERE

Transportation Fees: Each student-athlete will be required to pay a $30 transportation fee for each sport in which he/she participates. Make payments on Eventlink. Under contact information, please enter your athlete’s name and the sport you are paying for. for example “John Doe – Cross Country.” If you are paying for more than one athlete, please purchase them separately.

Event Tickets: We are cashless. We will have a card reader for bank and credit cards at the gate. Or you can pre-purchase tickets on Eventlink HERE.

  • Gate Ticket Prices: $5 per person
  • EJHS All Sports Season Passes: Each pass is good for admission to all home EJHS athletic events excluding County and WIC tournaments. Non-Transferable – Edgewood High School events are not covered by this pass.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Pizza X POP Tabs: Love Pizza X? Love EJHS? Eat pizza from Pizza X and save the Proof-Of-Purchase (POP) tabs from the pizza boxes. Ask your friends and family to save them as well. Each Proof-Of-Purchase tab is worth 25 cents.

Not Feeling Well: Students if you’re not feeling well report to the Health Office. The Health Aide will contact your parent if you need to go home. By-passing the Health Office and contacting your parent yourself will be an unexcused absence. Parents, if your student contacts you, please refer them to the Health Office.

Chromebooks/Chargers: If you are a student and do not have a Chromebook, please visit Ms. Edgeman in the Media Center. Any issues, repairs, etc. also need to go to the Media Center. Due to the high demand and lack of supply, we will no longer be able to provide students with a loaner charger during school hours.
