March 4, 2022 - Edgewood Schools

We are off to a great start on our 7th-grade food drive. So far, Mr. Kensek’s class is in the lead for 7th graders! In 6th-grade, our leading homeroom is Mr. Ansbaugh’s class. And 8th-grade homeroom classes are currently in a tie. Keep up the good work and let’s set some school records for how much we can donate to help the hungry in our community. Our food drive fact for today is: 17% of all children do not know where their next meal is coming from. Wow! We are so fortunate that many of us do know about our next meal (lunch for most of us). Let’s turn that blessing into a blessing for others by donating food items. Remember you have until next Wednesday to bring food in for your homeroom. What food can you find or purchase over the weekend to donate to the cause?

Any 8th-grader that brings in an item for the food drive should swing by their math teacher’s class before turning it in. Finding the volume and surface area of the container will earn you bonus points on your upcoming Geometry test!

8th-grade students and parents: Please submit two photos for use in the end-of-the-year memory slideshow to be shown at EJHS Honors and Awards Day. ALL students will be represented. One image should be a current photo of you–school-related if possible, but not your school yearbook portrait. The other should be from when you were young. Please upload good quality, school-appropriate .jpeg images to the online link https://images.jostens.com/416225043 by the Friday after Spring Break, March 25th. (You may have to copy the URL and paste it into a browser for it to work.) Email Mrs. Millick with any questions at hmillick@rbbschools.net.

Please check the table outside the Guidance Office for lost items that might belong to you. Unclaimed items will be donated before Spring Break.

Colts’ swimmers and divers split with Batchelor last night with the girls coming up with a win. Ellie Vagedes set the school record in the 50 freestyle. We had another night of PRs with Sophie Ludlow winning her first race in the 200 free and notable performances by Henry Norris, Jaelyn Woodcock, Gabriel Tassi, Jackson Schmalensee, Ava Lilley, Maggie McCormack, Annalise Doyle, and Mason Connelley. The final meet is the County Championship next Thursday. Good luck swimmers!

The 8th-grade girls lost to Sullivan in the WIC championship game last night with a score of 30-23. Leading the effort were Macey Crider with 14 points, Madison Bland with 4 points, Ava LaRoche and Addison Yearby with 2 points each, and Reyanna Dryer with 1 point. Great effort girls!
